STUDY UPDATE - MARCH 2010

A review of the 2009 child sponsorship comparison study involving Children International, ChildFund (formerly known as Christian Children's Fund), Compassion International, Plan USA, Save the Children and World Vision sponsorship programs revealed no programmatic changes. However, three of the six oganizations in the study increased their monthly sponsorship contribution amount during the past year.

ChildFund increased their monthly cost of sponsorship from $24 to $28, an increase of 17% per month. World Vision increased their monthly cost of sponsorship from $30 to $35, an increase of 17% per month. The largest price increase came from Compassion International, who raised their monthly cost of sponsorship from $32 to $38, an increase of 19% per month. Compassion's increase of $6 makes them the most expensive of the child sponsorship organizations in the study.

It is important to note that of the six organizations researched, Children International remains the most cost-effective at only $22 per month. Children International continues to maintain a large one-to-one impact on the children who are sponsored through their programs, in addition to providing benefits that equal or exceed the other organizations in the study. When comparing the cost per sponsorship, it is worth pointing out that sponsorship through Children International can provide a savings of up to $16, while making a marked difference in the life of a sponsored child and community where they live.
